About the Current Version of IGES
Edit Change Order (ECO) Description
Changes from the prior version of IGES are documented as a set of Edit Change Orders (ECO). Each ECO consists of a cover page which indicates source, approvals, and the effect of the ECO. The associated files are the pages of IGES amended by the ECO. Each paragraph modified by the ECO is marked in the margin with the ECO number. Each ECO contains pages from the copyrighted IGES version 5.2 as modified by the ECO. The pages are available with authorization from the copyright owner, US Pro (letter dated March 13, 1995).

This version brings a new look, and several new capabilities to the IGES user. The introductory material, Chapters 1 and 2; completely re-written to make it more readable and succinct. Gray page material, formerly found in Appendix G, is now integrated into the main body of the document. Regarding new capabilities, a formal link is now available between external documents, such as military specifications and application protocols, and the IGES Global Section. Also, BREP solids may now be used as CSG primatives, and infinite lines may now be exchanged. Several new properties have been added, and the Attribute Table Definition extended to include electrical design rules. As with previous versions, numerous clarifications and editorial corrections are also made.
