Common Criteria Testing


The Common Criteria Testing LAP in the Information Technology Testing (ITST) program was established to meet the needs of government and the private sector for accredited laboratories to conduct IT security testing. NIST Handbook 150-20 presents the technical requirements for IT security evaluation in accordance with ISO/IEC 15408 Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation (Common Criteria) and the Common Methodology for Information Technology Security Evaluation (CEM).

The program was established in response to a request from the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP), a partnership between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA). NIAP has established a program to evaluate conformance of Information Technology (IT) products to international standards. The program is known as the NIAP Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) for Information Technology Security. NIAP validated products will be recognized in 12 other countries participating with the United States in the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement
