Description of Problem

Three application protocols (AP) require updating to IGES Version 6.0. Further, management of the APs will be greatly enhanced by combining them into one volume as approved by the project on July 27, 1990.

First draft of the proposed Volume 2 on August 12, 1999. Second Draft September 16, 1999. Third Draft December 10, 1999 (eliminating Drafting Subsets) Fourth Draft June 27, 2000 (all definitions moved to new Appendix A) Forward references proposed for Volume 1 (see "proposed solution")

Proposed Solution

1. Circulate draft of proposed Volume 2; update per comments.
2. Add forward references to Volume 1 of IGES 6.0:

   Add 3rd paragraph to end of "1.2 Field of Application":
   IGES Volume 2 defines entity usage within three specific application domains: drafting, 3D piping, and layered electrical products.

   Add text to "3.5 Annotation Entities":
   This section defines general structures and rules for annotation entity usage. for drawing structures, including annotation, IGES Volume 2, section 2.1 Drafting Application Protocol applies.

   Add to "3.6.3 Connectivity":
   Connectivity within the 3D Piping Application are further defined in IGES Volume 2, section 2.2, and within the Layered Electrical Product Application in IGES Volume 2, section 2.3.

   Add new paragraph to end of 3.6.5 "Drawings and Views":
   IGES Volume 2, section 2.1 further defines these structures for the Drafting Application.
