Edit Change Order (ECO) Description

NEW ITEM: The combined application protocols "IGES 6.0 Volume II" (see ECO 715 below) has been published as NISTIR 6972, April 2003.

As each Request for Change (see IGES In-Work Items) completes the approval process, the change has been fully integrated with the files from which the next version of IGES will be printed.

Each ECO contains pages from the copyrighted IGES version 5.3 as modified by the ECO. The pages are available with authorization from the copyright owner, US Pro (letter dated March 13, 1995).

The technical additions identified for Version 6.0 have been frozen as of the June 4, 1997 Project meeting. Version 6.0 is currently in the pre-publication quality verification phase by the IGES Project. Please check for new postings of these ECOs; several will be non-technically revised and re-posted as a result of the 6.0 Proofing/Review meeting held on August 11-12, 1998. You are invited to obtain, implement, test, and comment on any of the IGES technical change material. Please contact the IGES Change Manager listed below for any documents not available from this page.

Description: Modify the way edges are used in shells and Manifold Solid B-REP Objects. This change avoids constructing solids using analytic surfaces where surface normals point both to solid and to void; it probably represents how current translators create these entities.
