How to Apply for CAB Designation Under the APEC Tel MRA?
Phase I
In order to apply for Phase-I CAB designation, please follow the steps noted below and provide the documents listed below for each economy of interest separately. In case an organization is seeking CAB designations at multiple locations, apply for each location separately. Before applying, have your laboratory accredited by an accreditation body that is acceptable to NIST for standards/test methods of APEC economy of interest. Once NIST has reviewed the application and confirmed its completeness, NIST will forward a designation request to the economies in question. Under the terms of the MRA, economies have up to 60 days to respond to NIST. There are currently no NIST fees associated with designation requests and recognition.

- Chinese-Taipei (NCC formerly DGT) Phase-I
- Hong Kong, China (OFTA) Phase-I
- Korea (RRL/KCC formerly RRL/MIC) Phase-I
- Singapore (IDA) Phase-I
- Vietnam (MIC) Phase I (Applications accepted by NIST as of April 1, 2009)

Phase II
In order to apply for Phase-II CAB designation, please follow the steps noted below and provide the documents listed under each economy of interest separately. In case an organization is seeking CAB designations at multiple locations, apply for each location separately. Before applying, have your organization accredited by a NIST-recognized accreditor for certification bodies. The laboratory supplying the test reports must be accredited to the set of standards/test methods required by the APEC economy of interest. Once NIST has reviewed the application and confirmed its completeness, NIST will forward a designation request to the economies in question. Under the terms of the MRA, economies have up to 60 days to respond to NIST. There are currently no NIST fees associated with designation requests and recognition.
